Most Americans say Biden and Trump should not run for president in 2024

A majority of American voters say current US President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump should not run for the White House in 2024, according to a new poll.

According to the Politico/Morning Consult poll, released on Tuesday, 48 percent of voters say Trump,76, should “definitely not” make another White House bid while 13 percent say he “probably” should not campaign for the 2024 presidency.

Biden,79, should “definitely not” run again for the White House while 18 percent say he “probably” shouldn’t.

The high disapproval from Americans for the second White House bid for both men comes as questions about their advanced age and lack of mental and physical fitness for the presidency have arisen.

Biden said he intends to run for the highest office again. He would be 82 while running for president again, and 83 when taking office if he won in 2024.

Trump would be 78 when inaugurated if he won in the 2024 race. Trump has repeatedly hinted to run for office again.

Trump dismissed the question of age but expressed his concerns about Biden’s fitness for the office.

“President Biden is one of the oldest 79s in History, but by and of itself, he is not an old man,” Trump posted on Truth Social, his social media platform. “There are many people in their 80s, and even 90s, that are as good and sharp as ever. Biden is not one of them, but it has little to do with his age. In actuality, life begins at 80!”

Fifty percent of respondents disagreed with the statement that Biden “is in good health,” while only 40 percent agreed.

Meanwhile, a recent poll by Civiqs, an online polling and analytics company, shows that only 29 percent of American registered voters approve of the way Biden is handling his job as the president of the United States.

An astonishing 58 percent of registered voters expressed their disapproval of Biden’s job performance and 13 percent said they are still unsure.

The collapse in the Democratic president’s approval rating comes as more and more Americans show dissatisfaction with him due to high inflation and rising gas prices in the country.

US consumer inflation hit a 40-year high of 8.6 percent in the 12 months through May, with gasoline marking a record high and the cost of food soaring, Labor Department data showed.

The surging costs have become a political headache for the Biden administration, which has tried several measures to lower prices but said much of the responsibility to control inflation falls to the Federal Reserve.

Meanwhile, the Biden White House has said Trump is unfit for office.

Trump has maintained that he lost the 2020 election only because of widespread fraud that benefited Biden.

Trump believes that the election was rigged by the US establishment in favor of Biden. He has said that the 2020 presidential election was “the greatest Election Hoax in history.”
